STEP BY STEP
Pre Licensing
Using ExamFX, you’ll spend roughly 30 hours studying, testing, using FlashCards, etc to prepare for the State Exam https://www.examfx.com/
At the end of each training module (and there are 15 modules), you’ll take a practice test. After you’ve passed each of the 15 practice tests, you’ll be ready for the actual State exam. NOTE: Before taking the State exam, you’ll be able to take simulated practice exams on the ExamFX site; this will help ensure that you are ready for the State Exam. Also, they have a “Guarantee Exam” available; if you pass that and then fail your State Exam, ExamFX will refund all your money (it’s VERY challenging).
Each training module and test will take approximately 90 mins to complete. You’ll have a maximum of 2 months to finish your training and practice tests, but ideally you want to just take a few weeks to complete everything so you don’t forget as you go.
If you retake a training test, it will be harder. ExamFX will present different questions based on the questions you got wrong from the previous test. Also know that their exams are slightly harder than the actual State exam (emphasis on slightly).
The ExamFX Flashcards are great to prep; the MP3 recordings are ok, but not essential.

STATE EXAM NOTES
For the State Exam, you will travel to a testing center (sometimes on a local college campus and other times at an business building; note that your testing location may be 1-2 hours away and they may not have openings for several weeks, so plan ahead).
Here are my notes on each section along with several actual questions and answers: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yqEo9MBfFkUvCHaCLY8WO5gZQuSpUUsnaFeETonLIdk/edit?usp=sharing
RANDOM TIPS
FLUNK
I completed each of the 15 section tests 3-4 times each so I felt prepared. I also repeated the practice tests 8-10 times. I flunked most of the tests to start with and then as I studied, I began to pass most of them. Again, do not be alarmed if you fail several of your first tests.
MISSES
As I was taking practice tests just before the actual state exam, when I came across a question that I wasn’t sure of, I would miss it on purpose so I could see the correct answer at the end. I liked this better than guessing because if I guessed and got it right, I wouldn’t know what to study later.
NOTES
As you complete each section, take notes of the questions you get wrong so you can review them. I used Google docs for my notes HERE. My wife took pictures of each missed question.
THE STATE EXAM
As you start to get toward the end of the pre-licensing studying, schedule your State exam https://www.examfx.com/resources/department-of-insurance-testing-providers-by-state or here: https://candidate.psiexams.com/testdate/testdate.jsp. From the list, you will select the “Producer’s Combined Life, Accident, and Health” exam.
After scheduling your exam, take several simulated exams to prepare yourself for the State exam.
